Welcome to Colorado Edge magazine, the state's guide to economic development and business opportunities.

This publication features profiles of many communities in the state. From the Western Slope to the Eastern Plains, Colorado's diverse business climate has something for everyone.

Gov. Bill Owens and the State of Colorado are committed to fostering a business-friendly environment. The state provides a competitive business tax structure that rewards investment and innovation. With very low taxes at the state level and a wide range of local tax structures, Colorado offers almost unlimited choices to meet the needs of all types of businesses.

Colorado's position as an economic powerhouse is recognized in many studies by well-respected organizations that rank state economies. The state has been recognized as having the best overall business climate and is the only state to receive straight A's for nine consecutive years from the Corporation for Enterprise Development. It is also the fourth most tax friendly state in the nation, according to the Tax Foundation.

The state's unparalleled quality of life and natural beauty have attracted a highly educated, highly skilled workforce. A foundation of excellent research universities, federal labs and aerospace/defense facilities, along with corporate pioneers in the areas of biotechnology, telecommunications, software and computer technologies, has paved the way for a new generation of industries in fiber-optics, Internet service providers, satellite and other communications technologies.

Colorado is strategically located midway between Europe and Asia and is on a north-south corridor linking it to Canada and Mexico. To capitalize on this feature, an efficient, multi-modal transportation system facilitates the movement of people and goods. The state has many commercial, public and private airports that offer state-of-the-art facilities, including Denver International Airport, which recently opened a new sixth runway and is first in the nation for on-time arrivals.

All of these factors make Colorado an outstanding location for your company. Please contact Drew Bolin, deputy director of Domestic and International Business Development, at 303-892-3840 if you have questions. Thank you for your interest in Colorado, and best wishes in your business endeavors.

Sincerely,
